Wound care and pressure relief
Your team may clean the wound, remove nonviable tissue when appropriate, select dressings and reduce pressure on the wound.
Infection and circulation
Assessment can guide infection treatment and referral to vascular specialists. Revascularization may be considered when it is appropriate and feasible.
Care beyond the wound
Diabetes management, nutrition, footwear, smoking support and follow-up can form part of the plan. Several specialists may work together.
Additional approaches for selected patients
TTT is being studied as an additional surgical approach in selected difficult-to-heal wounds. It must not be presented as a substitute for necessary infection treatment, vascular assessment or standard wound care.
