Seek urgent medical assessment

Fever or feeling very unwell with a foot wound, suspected deep infection, gangrene or concern about severely reduced circulation may require immediate hospital assessment. Use your local emergency service if the situation is severe.

Contact your care team promptly

Tell your team about a new ulcer, increasing redness, swelling, discharge, a change in foot colour or a wound that is worsening. Follow their local urgent-care instructions.

Keep your current care plan

Researching treatment options does not replace assessment or prescribed treatment. Do not change dressings, medicines, device adjustments or weight bearing based on this website.
